![]() ![]() Masjid Salafia is the first masjid in Huddersfield, and possibly in the entire region, where all the Friday khutbahs are delivered in English. Originally the Friday Khutbahs were delivered in both Urdu and English on an alternate basis however in 2011 Alhamdulillah the transition was made to all English Khutbahs to meet the needs of the local community. The Imam at the masjid is fluent in Arabic, Urdu, Punjabi and Japanese and holds a degree in Islamic Studies from Ummul Qura University in Makkah. The vision was to establish a masjid teaching Islam according to the authentic Quran and Sunnah. The masjid building was formally a pub and was converted into a masjid by a small group of brothers in the year 2000. In the 2001 census there were just over 12,000 Muslims in Huddersfield, making up 10% of the local population. It is attended by a diverse cross-section of the community, Alhamdulillah, including many from the Kurdish community. The masjid has a capacity for about 250 brothers and 100 sisters. ![]() Masjid Ibrahim (formerly Masjid Salafia till c.2017), Huddersfield is located on the Halifax Old Road in Birkby.
